Hyderabad: There is a shortage of space in the cemeteries in the city, especially the cemeteries of the Christian community. In the city, there are some Christian graveyards at Malakpet, Amberpet, Narayanguda, Santosh Nagar, Chadarghat, Dilsukhnagar and LB Nagar. Most of these are already filled and there is no space left. The condition of some cemeteries has become so bad that partially decomposed bodies have to be dug up to accommodate new bodies. revealed that

Recently, about eight bodies have reached Malakpet cemetery for burial. However, due to lack of space, the bodies had to be shifted to other grounds. But, even there, the family members of the deceased had to request the management of the cemetery to keep the bodies in old graves. Though Christian community leaders have been demanding the state government to allot space for the cemetery, there has been no response from its side.

Though the issue was raised in the assembly, so far no announcement has been made by the authorities to provide land or sufficient space for a Christian cemetery. Christian community leader Naya Kullu said, "Earlier, the government had announced allotment of 67 acres in Rangareddy district, but till now the land has not been given."
