The Ladakh administration has announced the postponement of this year's Sindhu Darshan Festival. The decision comes after the administration took the decision following rising corona cases and the ongoing corona lockdown across the country. Tell me, this year's Sindhu Darshan Mahotsav was scheduled to be held from June 19-27. According to Mehboob Ali Khan, secretary, Department of Tourism and Culture, Ladakh, the administration met the organizers of the festival and decided to postpone this year's festival after reviewing the situation due to the unprecedented situation caused by Covid-19 across the country and ladakh region.

The secretary clarified that if the situation improved, the decision would also be reconsidered. The Indus Darshan Mahotsav is held every year in Sheymanla and is 7 kilometres away from Leh city. The three-day festival attracts a large number of domestic and foreign tourists as well as religious leaders. The programme usually offers a glimpse of the culture of Ladakh along with offering prayers.

But this time the second wave of corona has also spread its footprint in Ladakh and even today there are 1546 active cases of corona in this region with a population of five lakh, while 165 people have lost their lives due to this infection.
