Chandigarh: The United Society Front, an organisation of farmers, has released a new list of 35 candidates for the Punjab assembly elections. The most shocking name among them is former gangster Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha Sidhana. Lakha has been given a ticket from Maud Mandi by the United Society Front. 22 organizations of farmers have come together in the United Society Front. Four lists of candidates have been released so far on the front side.

Delhi Police had filed a case against Lakkha Sidhana over the violence at the Red Fort due to a tractor march on Independence Day. Lakkha is accused of inciting violence. The police had also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Lakkha had fled after that. He was seen addressing a rally of people in Mehraj village under the Rampur Phool Assembly of Bhatinda in February 2021. However, the United Kisan Morcha, a major organization agitating against agricultural laws, had distanced itself from Lakkha at that time.

Thereafter, Lakkha appeared at several functions. On September 15 last year, he arrived at the Singhu border with a convoy of 500 vehicles, which also had several United Kisan Morcha leaders. At that time, Lakkha had said that her BKU was a mission Punjab-like idea of Haryana leader Gurnam Singh Charuni. However, Lakkha did not give hints to the contest at that time.
