Uttarakhand: Senior Congress leader and the Ex Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat will be visiting violence-hit Lakhimpur Kheri district in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

According to the schedule, Rawat will be leaving for Lakhimpur Kheri from Ramnagar at 9.30 am. Congress workers from the state will also escort Rawat in more than 1,000 vehicles to Lakhimpur Kheri from Ramnagar via Kaladungi, Bajpur, Kichha.

Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat earlier said that the whole country was stunned by the incident of the brutal killing of farmers by crushing them. The Congress will take out a protest march from Bajpur to Lakhimpur Kheri on Thursday, demanding the dismissal of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni and the arrest of his son Ashish Mishra.

Former Chief Minister Rawat was talking to media people at a hotel on Ramnagar Road on Wednesday night. He said that the Congress had given a call for Sitapur march to protest the detention of party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, who was going to Lakhimpur Kheri on information about the killing of farmers.
