Lucknow: Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, has been made the main accused in the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. Ashish Mishra reached the crime branch office at 10.38 pm, about 22 minutes before the 11 pm deadline given by the crime branch of the police. A team of senior police officials and a special investigation team (SIT) had already reached the crime branch office. The interrogation of Ashish Mishra has started.

The SIT and crime branch team have been questioning Ashish Mishra for nearly two and a half hours. Ashish Mishra is accompanied by his lawyer and representatives of Ajay Mishra Teni. Ashish is being recorded with a penned statement before the magistrate. Ashish has also taken with him affidavits of dozens of people stating that they were in riots and not at the spot. Ashish has also arrived at the crime branch office with electronic evidence.

Tight security arrangements have been made in the police line for Ashish's appearance before the investigating team. Police have converted the police line into a cantonment in view of Ashish Mishra's flesh. Barricades have been put up everywhere. Police personnel have been deployed at every corner.
