Lucknow: Gurwinder Singh, the fourth farmer killed in the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh, was cremated this morning. Gurwinder Singh was killed in the violence that erupted on Sunday and was cremated three days later. Gurwinder was postmortem for the second time late at night after farmer leader Rakesh Tikait persuaded him. After the post-mortem report came on Tuesday, the family members termed the report as false and demanded a postmortem again and stopped the funeral. then Gurwinder's body postmortem was conducted again.

Four farmers lost their lives in the violence that broke out in Tikunia in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday, October 3. The family members of the farmers had agreed to conduct a postmortem after the administration assured them of action. A postmortem of the four farmers was conducted on Monday. Out of those four, Lovepreet Singh (19), Nakshatra Singh (65) and Daljit Singh (42) have been cremated on Tuesday. But the funeral of Gurwinder Singh (22) was stopped. The postmortem report attributed Gurwinder Singh's death to shock and haemorrhage.

However, the family members had denied the report. The family members alleged that Gurwinder had died of bullet injuries. Gurwinder was a resident of Moharnia village. His relatives had made it clear on Tuesday that he would not be cremated until the postmortem was conducted again. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait had also arrived on Tuesday to meet Gurwinder's family members. After much deliberation and talks with Tikait, the administration agreed to conduct the postmortem again. A team of doctors from Lucknow came to Bahraich late at night and Gurwinder underwent a second postmortem at Bahraich Marchuri amid heavy security at night.
