Lakhimpur Violence: Surrender of Congress MP's nephew Ankit Das present in Fortuner

Lucknow: Police and Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigation suo motu in Lakhmipur violence case are making new revelations every day. Ankit Das, a nephew of late Congress MP Akhilesh Das, has also surrendered after the arrest of Ashish Mishra. After several appeals to join the interrogation, Ankit Das himself has now appeared before the crime branch.  Ankit Das has also appeared before the crime branch on Wednesday when notices were pasted in Lucknow of him. It was only after the notice that Ankit was asked to surrender.

An application has also been filed in the CJM court. A statement on the violence will now be recorded before the crime branch in the meantime. Ankit Das's driver has already been arrested by the police. It is alleged that Ankit Das Fortuner was running behind Ashish Mishra's Thar car on the day of Lakhimpur violence. The car was being driven by Ankit's driver Shekhar Bharti. Based on the investigation, Ankit's driver has already been arrested and now Ankit is also being prepared to be taken into the grips of the law.

A total of eight people lost their lives in the Lakhimpur violence. While four were protesting farmers, three BJP workers and one journalist were killed. There has been a lot of tension in the area since that incident. The issue is still considered crucial in terms of UP elections.
