Lakhimpur Violence: 2 arrested for beating BJP workers to death

Lucknow: Police have now initiated action against the other side in the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. Two protesters Vichitra Singh and Gurwinder Singh have been arrested on Tuesday (October 26, 2021) in connection with the lynching of a BJP worker during the violence. They were brought to the crime branch office in the police line for initial interrogation from where the duo has been sent to jail. Both the accused are residents of the Lakhimpur Kheri district.

According to the report, Gurwinder Singh hails from Mokramau Aliganj in the Gola area of Lakhimpur while Vichitra Singh is a resident of the Bheera area of the same district. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had summoned Vichitra Singh and Gurwinder Singh for questioning after the video related to the violence went viral. The duo will be produced before the court on Wednesday (October 27, 2021). On the other hand, a man named Sumit Jaiswal had lodged a FIR.

13 persons have been arrested so far in the FIR registered by the farmers. These include Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra as well as BJP members Sumit Jaiswal, Ankit Das, Latif alias Kale, Shekhar Bharti, Shishupal, Satya Prakash Tripathi, Nandan Singh Bisht, Ashish Pandey, Lavkush Rana, Mohit Trivedi, Rinku Rana and Dharmendra. On the other hand, these are the first arrests made by the other side.
