Lakhimpur violence: Omar Abdullah Calls Uttar Pradesh 'new Jammu and Kashmir'

Srinagar: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah has reacted to Sunday's violence in Lakhimpur Kheri. In fact, in one of his tweets, he described Uttar Pradesh as "new Jammu and Kashmir". In Uttar Pradesh, eight people have been killed in a violent incident in Lakhimpur Kheri following clashes between farmers and the Union minister's son.

Farmers and Ashish Mishra, son of Union minister Ajay Mishra, who were opposing agriculture laws and Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni's statement, clashed violently on Sunday. Eight people lost their lives in the incident. In the entire case, Uttar Pradesh Police has registered a case under several sections including murder, criminal conspiracy and rape against 14 persons including Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra.

 

After the whole controversy, several leaders of opposition parties have hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Priyanka Gandhi, on the other hand, has been detained by the police in Sitapur at 5.30 am on Monday. Priyanka said she was on her way to the Lakhimpur Kheri district in Uttar Pradesh to meet the families of the victims when she was stopped and taken into custody.
