Lakhimpur Violence: UP police nab 4 more accused, 10 arrested so far

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested four more persons in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case on October 18, 2021. The arrested persons have been identified as Sumit Jaiswal, Shishi Pal, Satya Prakash Tripathi alias Satyam and Nandan Singh Bisht. Now, the total number of people arrested in the case has gone up to 10.

In a statement, UP police said, "On Monday, the crime branch of Lakhimpur Kheri police along with SWAT team nabbed four persons. SIT investigators and other top officials are interrogating the accused and further investigation is on. The SWAT team also recovered a revolver and a live cartridge from Tripathi.'' Satyam Tiwari's name was revealed in the interrogation of Ankit Das, Shekhar Bharti (driver of Das) and Latif (Das's security guard).

A police officer told media, "The accused Shekhar Bharti told the police that Satyam Tiwari of Kaushambi was driving SUV on the day of the incident.'' Another official was quoted as saying, "The accused will be questioned regarding the incident and his role in it. If he does not cooperate in the interrogation, we will apply for his remand.'' Earlier, police had arrested six persons including Ashish Mishra, Lavkush Pandey, Ashish Pandey, Shekhar Bharti, Latif and Ankit Das in the case.
