Every year Diwali and Diyas made by terracotta craftsmen and statues of Lakshmi-Ganesh are sold, but this time the situation is going to be different. With the encouragement of localism, terracotta craftsmen believe that this time demand will definitely increase.
There was excitement among the artisans after the PM's appeal to promote local products. The statement from the Chief Minister on Friday has further encouraged him. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that Laxmi-Ganesh statues will be needed in Deepawali. This time, local units prepare for this option. The Chief Minister has praised the terracotta craftsmen of Gorakhpur and said that they make a much better statue than China.
On the occasion of Deepawali, there is a lot of demand for urn lamps made by terracotta craftsmen. Apart from this, the elephant stand and Laxmi-Ganesh statue are also liked. Products from here go to the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra etc. Plastic is also used in the statue coming from China so that they are not pure for worship, while the terracotta statues are completely made of clay and coloured with clay colour. Therefore, they are considered completely pure. The price of a four-inch statue is about 10 to 15 rupees compared to China till last year and there is a difference of about 50 rupees in the price of a 12-inch statue. However, the craftsmen claim that this time the price may be lower.
