Ranchi: RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav, convicted in a case related to illegal withdrawal from Doranda treasury of the much-discussed fodder scam, will have to wait for bail. On Friday, due to the hearing on the bail petition filed by Lalu Prasad in the court of High Court Judge Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, the CBI appealed to the court to give time to file the counter affidavit. Accepting which the court has fixed April 22 as the next date of hearing in the case.

While appearing for Lalu Prasad Yadav, senior advocate Kapil Sibal informed the court that Lalu Prasad has spent more than 11 months in jail from half the sentence period, so bail should be given. After hearing both the sides, the court has fixed April 22 as the next date of hearing in the matter. Lalu Prasad's bail plea was scheduled to be heard on April 1, but the hearing was postponed due to the judge not sitting on that day.

In the case related to the same fodder scam, hearing is held on every Friday in the High Court, due to which the hearing in Lalu Prasad's case was held today. Earlier, due to the last hearing, the court had directed to call for records (LCR) from the CBI court in this case. About 65 truck documents of whose fodder scam have been sent to the High Court. Significantly, on February 21, Lalu Yadav was sentenced to 5 years in jail by the special CBI court. At the same time, a fine of Rs 60 lakh was also imposed.
