Landslide in kinnaur, Hundreds of People stranded

A Kinnaur district official said Hundreds of people have been left stranded after a landslide at Malling Nullah near Naco in Kinnaur district blocked the Kinnaur-Kaza national highway on Monday. The landslide has cut off the road link of Kaza subdivision in Lahaul-Spiti district and several villages of Kinnaur district from the other parts due to the landslide that followed snowfall. 

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is trying to remove the debris to clear the Kinnaur-Kaza road. Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded on both sides of the road due to the landslide, the official said. Earlier on Sunday, the Himachal Pradesh Police has rescued over 300 tourists stranded near the Atal Tunnel at Rohtang due to a fresh snowfall. Kullu SP Gaurav Singh said, Some tourists had crossed the tunnel on Saturday morning but in the evening, they could not find any resting place in Lahaul due to snowfall and were stranded midway while returning to Manali. 

The Lahaul-Spiti Police in hands with the Kullu Police sent vehicles through the tunnel in the evening. The vehicles were stuck midway while on their way to Manali due to snow and slippery roads, SP Gaurav Singh said .Around 70 vehicles, including a 48-seater bus, a 24-seater police bus and one police quick reaction team (QRT), were deployed for the travellers rescue.
