Haryana: The Karnal district administration in Haryana has imposed curbs to ban large gatherings on Tuesday, September 6, in the light of a farmers’ congregation, according to reports. Section 144 of the Criminal Code of Procedure prohibit the assembly of four or more people in an area.

The police force has issued a traffic advisory for the Delhi-Chandigarh national highway. Accordingly, Traffic will be diverted from Pipli in Kurukshetra and the Pepsi Bridge in Panipat. The district administration has also provided a list of alternative routes.

Notably, The situation in the district has been uptight since the police baton-charged and injured farmers during protests against the 3 farm laws on August 28. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha, which is leading the farmers’ protest, is also planning to gherao the mini-secretariat on Tuesday to protest against the police action.

On Sunday, thousands of farmers from various states had gathered in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar for Kisan Mahapanchayat amid tight security. Also, thousands of farmers have been protesting at the borders of Delhi for the past 9 months seeking the repeal of the three contentious farm laws which they are afraid will do away with the MSP system. The Centre has thus far held over 10 rounds of discussion with the farmer unions to allay their concerns with no major breakthrough.
