COLOMBO: Sri Lankan cricket team star cricketer and legendary bowler Lasith Malinga has announced his retirement from ODI cricket. After the 3RD ODI series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, they will retire. Lasith Malinga will retire from ODI cricket after the first match of the series. Malinga's retirement has been conveyed by Sri Lanka cricket captain Dimuth Karunaratne. Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne told the media ahead of the ODI series against Bangladesh that Lasith Malinga is playing the first match of the series.

After that, he is taking retirement. That is where he has told me. I don't know what he has said to the selectors, but Lasith Malinga has said that he will play only one match. Sri Lanka team's right-handed fast bowler Lasith Malinga will play the last match of his ODI career on July 26. Malinga is the third bowler to score the highest wicket. Lasith Malinga has taken 335 wickets in ODIs.

Muthiah Muralitharan and Chaminda Vasa were the top wicket-takers before Malinga.  In the ICC World Cup 2019, 35-year-old Lasith Malinga took the most wickets for Sri Lanka. Lasith Malinga has bowled 13 wickets in 7 innings in the 12th season of the World Cup. Lasith Malinga retired from Test cricket in 2011. After that, Malinga has been playing short format. Sri Lanka became the cricket team champions in 1996, while in The World Cup 2019, Sri Lanka played 7 out of 9 matches and could only win 3 of them. Sri Lanka was sixth in the points table. The match will begin at 8:30 AM.
