Today is the birthday of former Team India cricketer Ajay Jadeja. Ajay Jadeja has made many match-winning performances for India. But what happened was that suddenly his career came to an end.  On June 3, 2000, Ajay Jadeja played an international match for the last time for Team India. Although he did not expect that this day would be his last match, but what has to happen remains, and the Asia Cup match against Pakistan on June 3, 2000, was Azharuddin's last match with Jadeja. After this match, India was knocked out of the tournament. At the same time, the names of Ajay Jadeja and Mohammad Azharuddin were also revealed in Hansie Cronje's match-fixing revelations. Due to this, both of them were banned and they could not play any further. So let's know the story of this match.

This was the fifth match of the Asia Cup. Pakistan captain Moin Khan won the toss and elected to bat first. Saeed Anwar and Imran Nazir gave Pakistan a great start. The two shared a 74-run stand for the first wicket, but then three wickets fell within a run. Anil Kumble first sent Anwar (43) and Imran Nazir (29) to the pavilion. Ajit Agarkar then bowled Inzamam-ul-Haq (1). In such a situation, Mohammad Yousuf (at that time Yusuf Yohana) took the lead and played an unbeaten knock of 100 off 112 balls with the help of nine fours and a six. Shahid Afridi (21), Moeen Khan (46) and Abdul Razzaq (21) also contributed significantly to take the Pakistan team to a score of 295 for seven. For India, Kumble took the most three wickets.

Chasing 296, India got off to a poor start. Their top-order knelt down in front of Abdul Razzaq. Sourav Ganguly (8), Sachin Tendulkar (25), Rahul Dravid (26) and Mohammad Azharuddin (1) had lost their wickets to a total score of 75 runs. In such a situation, Ajay Jadeja handled one end. But the kind of help that Mohammad Yousuf got from the other end, Jadeja did not get the same kind of help. India's wickets kept falling. The result was that Jadeja was left alone at the crease. He tried to score quick runs on his own. But in the 48th over, as the last wicket, he was also dismissed. Ajay Jadeja scored a brilliant 93 off 103 balls with eight fours and four sixes.

India's innings was bowled out for 251 and Pakistan won by 44 runs, with the same match as the evening of the international careers of Mohammad Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja. Where former captain Azhar could score one run in the final match, Jadeja played a brilliant inning. Then in December 2000, when Azhar was banned for life on match-fixing charges, Jadeja was banned for five years.
