New Delhi: The entire world, including India, is currently battling the coronavirus and its new variant Omicron. But as the pace of vaccination has accelerated, the havoc of Corona or Omicron has also decreased. Almost all countries across the world have intensified vaccinations. This can be estimated from the fact that more than 11 billion corona vaccines have been produced in the whole world last year. This figure is twice the number of vaccines produced since the start of the Corona epidemic in 2019.

During this time, China's Corona Vaccine Sinovac and Sinopharm produced the highest number of vaccines. According to a UNICEF report, it produced 2.3 billion vaccines from Sinovac, which is 21 per cent of the total vaccine production, while Sinopharm produced 2.1 billion vaccines, which is 19 per cent of the total production. The contribution of India's Serum Institute of India (SII) was also recorded at 13 per cent. SII produced 1.4 billion doses of Covishied. Amid the coronavirus spread across the world, India is focusing on becoming a 'powerhouse' of the COVID-19 vaccine.

It is being said that the central government has also made a plan for this. The central government has liaised with four Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to understand their resources and capabilities to start the production of the vaccine. Companies such as Hindustan Pesticides Limited (HIL), Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Limited (BCPL), Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited (IDPL) and Hindustan Antibiotics Limited (HAL) have been invited for discussion by the government.
