MOSCOW: Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are difficult, but Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov feels there is a chance for a solution.

"Our negotiators' assessments serve as a reference for me. They say that the talks are going badly for obvious reasons ", Lavrov remarked in an interview with RBC. However, he believes there is a chance for a compromise.

Vladimir Medinsky, the chairman of the Russian delegation, stated that Russia's goal in negotiations with Kiev has not changed: Moscow requires a peaceful, free, impartial, and independent Ukraine, as well as a "generational deal."

"We need a peaceful, free, independent Ukraine that is neutral - not a member of military blocs, not a member of NATO, and that is not a springboard for military and economic aggression against our nation," he stated.

Medinsky also highlighted why Ukraine's negotiations began to be conducted online."Three face-to-face rounds of negotiations took place in Belarus," he said, "but we looked - because the logistics are very difficult, we decided to avoid flights to Belarus with overnight stays and limit ourselves to daily work from morning to evening in the video conference format to save time, effort, and money."
