Kiyv: Sergei Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia, claimed on Friday that Ukraine was engaging in dangerous play in relation to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, calling Kyiv's claims that Moscow intended to blow up the plant "pure lies" and accusing Kyiv of spreading them.
The largest nuclear plant in Europe, Zaporizhzhia, is in southern Ukraine but is under Russian control. The UN nuclear energy agency has repeatedly urged both sides to refrain from shelling the area.
According to Lavrov, Russia has voiced its grave concerns regarding Ukraine's "provocative actions."

This week, the IAEA reported that the power plant was "grappling with... water-related challenges" as a result of the massive reservoir on whose southern bank it is located being completely drained by the collapse of the Kakhovka dam.

The remarks were made by Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev during a meeting with IAEA Director Rafael Grossi in the Russian city of Kaliningrad, according to a statement released by Rosatom after Grossi's visit to the plant last week.
