Legend Bengali filmmaker Mrinal Sen dies at the age of 95, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee pours in condolence

New Delhi: Well-known filmmaker Mrinal Sen met with his angels at the age of 95 on December 30. According to Anandbazaar Patrika, Sen passed way around 10:30 am at his home in Bhawanipore, Kolkata. Reports suggested that He had been suffering from age-related illness for a long time.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee took his twitter handle  to poured in her condolences, as asserting  “Saddened at the passing away of Mrinal Sen. A great loss to the film industry. My condolences to his family,” her tweet read.

The legendary director Mrinal was born in Faridpur in Bangladesh on May 14, 1923.  Post completing high school in Bangladesh, Sen came to Kolkata. Mrinal studied physics at Scottish Church College. He  had done a post-graduate degree from the University of Calcutta.

The iconic filmmaker is considered to be one of the greatest ambassadors of Indian parallel cinema at a global level.

He is well known for directing fabulous films like 'Bhuvan Shome', 'Mrigaya', 'Akaler Sandhane' and 'Calcutta 71'.

Aprt fronm this these are the best creation of him- kash Kusum (1965), Bhuvan Shome (1969), Mrigayaa(1976), Calcutta 71 (1971), Ek Din Pratidin (1980), AkalerSandhane (1980), Khandhar (1984) and Antareen (1993).
