CHENNAI: Keeping his commitment to encourage mimicry artists, Malayalam actor and politician Suresh Gopi announced on Monday that he will be presenting the Mimicry Artistes Association (MAA) with a cheque for Rs 2 lakh.

Last year, the actor, who is also a member of the Rajya Sabha, stated that he would donate Rs 2 lakh from his compensation for any film he signed from then on to the Mimicry Artistes Association.

After hearing about the challenges faced by mimicry artists as a result of the pandemic, the actor made the commitment. Every film in which the actor appears has resulted in a donation of Rs 2 lakh.

Suresh Gopi tweeted on Monday, "I got paid in advance for my upcoming film 'Ottakkomban.' I will be presenting this payment for Rs 2 lakh to the Mimicry Artists Association (MAA) today, as promised." The actor's gesture has received widespread praise from various quarters of society.
