Dhar: A Forest department team from indore captured a leopard on Monday. The department will release the animal in the Rala Mandal forest area. The animal killed the two-year-old child at Mandu on Sunday.

The leopard was trapped near a nullah where villagers had found the child's partially-eaten body.

‘The leopard got hold of Gopal on Saturday night, while he was asleep with his mother on a cot in their house compound’, dhar divisional forest officer (DFO) Gaurav Choudhary said.

The DFO added, ‘Though Gopal’s mother raised an alarm and cried for help, the leopard dragged the infant to a drain two kms away from the spot and killed him’,.

After getting information, an animal rescue team from Indore was rushed to Mandu. The team set up a cage and the leopard was captured, Choudhary said.

According to sources, the leopard will be left free in Ralamandal forest area.
