  • Her original name was Mehajabeen Bano and her mother was a Hindu but after marriage, she converted to Islam. The poor financial status of her family compelled her to work in Hindi films.
  • Mera kumari was left at a Muslim orphanage as her father unable to pay the fees of Dr Gabre
  • She was almost drowned during the shooting of film Baiju Bawra.

  • She was an ardent reader and also used to write poems and many of her poems got published.
  • Meena went against to her parents and married to Kamal Arohi but her husband imposed many restrictions on her, therefore, the couple parted their after a decade.
