Let's take you to the place where Mahatma Buddha had attained the knowledge and that place is named as Bodhgaya where Buddhist monastery of many countries is also included. A holy place which is a small town adjacent to the district of Bodh Gaya, located about 100 km away in the south east near Patna, Bihar. 

People believe this and say that under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, Lord Gautam Buddha attained the knowledge by doing penance. Since then, this place is considered to be very sacred and important for the Buddhist religion and followers. In the year 2002, UNESCO has declared this site as World Heritage.

It is said that Emperor Asoka went to Bodh Gaya after 250 years when Gautam Buddha gained knowledge.  It is believed that Ashoka had constructed Mahabodhi temple only. Some historians also believe that this temple was built in the first century, it is a temple in which a great statue of Mahatma Buddha is established.

This idol is established in the pose of Padmasana, it is a fact that this statue is situated in the same place where Gautam Buddha had received knowledge.
