Lifestyle changes have risen the cancer cases during past few years, says study

As per the new study, young Indian women are falling to cancer.From total women suffering from cancer, 46 percent are less than 50 years old and the trend is worsening due to some modern lifestyle changes, says study.

Changes in lifestyle like multiple sex partners, late marriage, and late pregnancy have increased the cancer rate among Indian women especially the numbers of cases of breast and cervical cancers have risen exponentially in past few years.

Sameer Kaul, Senior Consultant of Surgical Oncology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, said, “Two % of the Indian women suffering from cancer are in 20 to 30 years age group, 16 % are in 30 to 40, 28 % are in 40 to 50 age group. So, almost 46 % women patients are below 50”.

Kaul further added that "in India, women did not disclose about the disease as discussing about private parts is a taboo here. Most of the women visit doctors when they are in the last stage or when cancer becomes unbearable and incurable which leads to death most of the time".

Leading source of cancer is Tobacco in the country and contributes to 40 % of the cases, as well as unhealthy eating and bad sexual habits have a lot to do with cancer.

According to estimates by HPV India Report 2015, 1,22,844 women were diagnosed with cervical cancer and 67,477 died in the year 2015.
