Guwahati: Amid the declining second wave of the corona, governments are trying to make every effort to avoid a possible third wave. The Assam government on Wednesday allowed an important decision. The Assam Cabinet decided that liquor will be sold online in Guwahati for a month on a trial basis.
Talking to police after the same meeting, Assam Minister Piyush Hazarika said that based on the trial, it has been decided to sell liquor online in Guwahati for a month. If this effort succeeds, we will increase it all over the state. According to Hazarika, liquor shops in Guwahati will be allowed to take online orders and supply liquor inside Guwahati Municipal Corporation areas in view of the directions of the Supreme Court and the Madras High Court.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state government has decided to provide relief in disaster-affected areas, improve education at the grass-root level and promote economic activities in tea gardens and rural areas. Sarma said, due to winter, when production in tea gardens is low, workers are also to be engaged in Works like digging of ponds, road construction like Manrega works.
