With NDAs win in Bihar Assembly elections 2020 and Nitish Kumar reiterated as the chief minister marking his fourth term we will see the list of longest-serving CMs of India.
1. Pawan Kumar Chamling, Sikkim CM, whose successive terms ran for 24 years, 165 days from 12 December 1996 to 26 May 2019.
2. Jyoti Basu, West Bengal CM and the term length was 23 years and 137 days from 21 June 1977 to November 2000.
3. Gegong Apang, CM of Arunachal Pradesh for a spell of 21 years and 11 days over different terms.
4. Lal Thanhawla of Mizoram was chief minister for five spells that ran a length of 21 years, days.
5. Virbhadra Singh from Himachal Pradesh governed as chief minister from 8 April 1983 – 8 March 1985 For 21 years 11 days.
6. Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha since March 2000, making it a reign of more than 20 years and the still counting the days as he continues to be in office.
7. Manik Sarkar was CM of Tripura - 19 years 263 days from 11 March 1998 – 9 March 2018.
8. Parkash Singh Badal was the chief minister of Punjab for 18 years and 30 days.
9. M Karunanidhi was CM of Tamil Nadu for a spell of 18 years and 293 five times.
10. Yashwant Singh Parmar was CM of Himachal Pradesh for two spells that spanned 18 years and 30 days.

Nitish Kumar has been CM for three terms which lasted 13 years and 303 days:
3 March 2000 – 10 March 2000
24 November 2005 – 19 May 2014
22 February 2015 – present. And he will take oath for the fourth time post Diwali. He aims to beat the record of Shri Krishna Sinha who was Bihar chief minister for 14 years and 304 days
