The 18-day monsoon session has begun from Monday amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Today is the third day of the session. The Ayurveda Institute of Teaching and Research Bill, 2020 was passed in the Rajya Sabha today. The COVID-19 virus was also discussed in the house today. The Congress questioned the government on the issue. Congress MP Anand Sharma questioned the governance on the basis on which the lockdown was imposed.
On the other hand, when less time for talks, the MPs started shouting. The Government informed the House that there has been a decline in terrorist cases in Jammu and Kashmir since the withdrawal of article 370. It also pointed out how many times there were cases of infiltration on the border from Pakistan and China in the last six months. At present, the Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till 9 am tomorrow.
In the Rajya Sabha, Congress MP Anand Sharma said yesterday, "The health minister informed that the decision prevented about 14 to 29 lakh corona cases and 37000-78000 deaths. The House should be informed on what scientific basis we have come to this conclusion". The former PM and senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh and former minister P Chidambaram will not participate in the Rajya Sabha meetings during the monsoon session due to health reasons. It was announced by Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu in the upper house on Wednesday.
