Corona Virus Lockdown 5.0 has come into force in India since Monday. Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided not to open its borders for interstate movement of vehicles and people.

In a statement, the state's Director General of Police DG Sawang said in a release that the ban on interstate movement of people will remain in force till further orders. Those wishing to come to Andhra from other states in private vehicles will have to get an e-pass through the government's 'vibrancy' web portal and undergo medical tests. Also, people coming from states less affected by the coronavirus will be sent to home quarantine and those from the highly affected states will be sent to the Institutional Quarantine for seven days. The DGP said that after this if they were found to be corona positive, they would be sent to the hospital. If found negative they will be sent to the home quarantine for seven days. Prohibition on inter-state traffic will continue until the government gives a clear order.

COVID Nodal Officer in the state Arja Srikanth said that people coming to Andhra by trains from other states will be tested at railway stations or district reception centres. Those coming from abroad must necessarily stay in the government or paid quarantine for 14 days. So far, 3,674 cases of corona have been reported in the state and 64 people have died. At the same time, corona cases in India are increasing rapidly. According to the Ministry of Health, there have been 8,392 new cases and 230 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases in the country now stands at 1,90,535, including 93322 active cases, 91819 cures and 5394 deaths.
