Lockdown extended by one more week: Delhi CM

The ongoing lockdown in the national capital of India is likely to extend by another week in the wake of the prevailing situation. Chief Minister has official tweeted writing “Lockdown in Delhi is being extended by one week.”

The lockdown in Delhi will now continue till 5 am on May 10. Restrictions which were announced in the previous order will remain as it is. According to issued orders essential services like medicine shops, vegetable shops, groceries etc. will be allowed, but shop owners and customers will have to ensure social distancing. The state has seen a rapid rise in its Covid-19 cases resulting in an acute shortage of hospital beds. Deaths too have mounted and the city’s crematorium are crammed. For days, hospitals have been complaining of shortage of oxygen to treat patients. Lately, on Saturday at Delhi’s Batra Hospital due to shortage of medical oxygen patients lost their lives. Chief Minister Kejriwal expressed grief over the incident.

Earlier in the week, a body of 95 traders’ associations in Delhi had urged Delhi L-G Anil Baijal and Chief Minister to extend the lockdown till May 15 in order to control the transmission of coronavirus.
