Chennai :Tamil Nadu recorded 2,312 positive cases of Covid-19 on Friday, bringing the state tally to 25,31,118. Among these, Chennai reported 144 positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 5,35,902. The state recorded 46 deaths on Friday, putting the state toll at 33,652. A total of 2,986 patients were discharged following treatment, taking the total number of recoveries to 24,68,236.

Chief Minister MK Stalin Friday announced that the lockdown would be extended till July 31. Activities like Public/private bus transportation within states (except Puducherry), flight services, theatres, bars, swimming pools, social/political gatherings and other events, reopening of schools/colleges, Zoo would still be restricted. However, the government has provided relaxation for ITIS, Industrial schools, typewriting training institutes, who are permitted to function with 50% of students on a rotational basis. Teachers are allowed to visit schools to carry out works related to admission, distribution of textbooks, etc.
