2 people committed suicide in Kerela for not getting alcohol

There are cases of suicide of many people during the transition all over India. Police said on Sunday that two people committed suicide in different parts of Kerala, frustrated by the lack of alcohol due to the lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Police said Sunesh (32) of Kodungalur in Thrissur district allegedly committed suicide by drowning in a river. Police said that Nauphal (34) allegedly drank after-shave lotion.

According to media reports, Sunesh was disappointed at not getting alcohol and was showing withdrawal symptoms. The complaint states that he left the house late at night and jumped into the river. The investigating officer said that his body was recovered from Irinjalakuda in Thrissur district. Naufal was admitted to the hospital in Alappuzha district after feeling restless. According to the family's statement, he was consuming alcohol regularly after returning from abroad a year ago. Vallikunnam police said that after he could not find alcohol, he drank after shave lotion. Earlier, Sanoj, a 38-year-old daily wage worker, committed suicide on Friday, hanging himself from a tree near his house.

The state government had earlier informed that people who have restlessness due to non-consumption of alcohol can use de-addiction centres in the districts. Liquor shops, including the state-run Beverages Corporation outlet in Kerala, were closed after the national shutdown. To stop the spread of Coronavirus, the central government has locked-down the entire country. So that the pressure of the Corana virus can be reduced.
