A few months back, Prakash Raj surprised everyone by announcing that he will step into active politics. Prakash Raj said that he will contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, as an independent candidate from Bengaluru central segment  A while ago, Prakash Raj via Twitter announced that he is going to file his nomination for the same seat tomorrow and requested all the responsible citizen to join and empower him.

South Indian actor Prakash Raj on Friday filed his nomination as an Independent candidate to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Bangalore Central constituency. Raj, 53, who hails from this tech city, is a popular actor in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films. After filing his nomination, Raj said national parties like Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have failed the people but he would like to be the voice of the people.

The much-famed South Indian and Hindi film industry actor, who has been very vocal in his stand against the two national parties - Congress and BJP - had in January confirmed that he would be making a foray into the politics by contesting in the 2019 elections. Prakash Raj has been vocal about his views on the current BJP-led government at the Centre. He has also been one of those seeking justice for his friend and journalist Gauri Lankesh, who was shot outside her residence in September 2017. “#bengalurucentral …. I Will be filing my CANDIDATURE as an INDEPENDENT tomorrow 22nd Friday .. please join me n empower #citizensvoice in parliament,” Raj tweeted yesterday.
