Lok Sabha election 2019: TDP worker dies in poll clashes in Andhra

On Thursday, during the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019, a TDP worker S Bhaskar Reddy died in poll clashes in Tadipatri town of Anantapur. The party alleged that YSR Congress Party workers are behind the incident. Reddy was critically injured in the clash at a polling booth in Devapuram village. He succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital.  Clashes between the workers of the two parties were reported from various parts of the state including Guntur and Prakasam districts. Ninety-one constituencies spread across 18 states and two union territories are voting in this initial phase. Thousands of voters queued up in front of their polling stations to cast their franchise. Reports of EVM malfunction is also coming in from several polling booths.

States going to polls on Thursday, April 11 are Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, and UTs Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep. The results of the general elections will be declared on May 23. The EC has said that timing of vote would be from 7 am to 6 pm in general constituencies, from 7 am to 5 pm in northeast parts of the country except Manipur and Nagaland where it would be till 4 pm.
