New Delhi: The bugle for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 has been sounded. The tenure of the current government is ending on 6th June, before which these elections will be completed, and the picture of the next government will become clear. Elections will be held in the country in seven phases. The first round of voting will be held on April 19, while the last and seventh round of voting will be held on May 19. Counting of votes will take place on June 4, deciding which party is going to form the next government in the country. Along with the Lok Sabha elections, assembly elections will also be held in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Odisha. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajeev Kumar said that 96.88 crore voters will exercise their franchise in this Lok Sabha election, and more than 10.5 lakh polling booths will be set up. Along with the Lok Sabha elections, by-elections will also be held for 26 assembly seats in the country.

Voting for assembly elections will be held in Andhra Pradesh on May 13, in Sikkim on April 19, in Arunachal Pradesh on April 19, and in Odisha, voting will be held in two phases on May 13 and May 20. 1.82 crore voters will vote for the Lok Sabha for the first time this time and cast their vote in the elections. Also, 55 lakh EVM machines will be used in this election. One and a half crore election officials will be responsible for conducting fair and peaceful elections. This time 49 crore 72 lakh male voters will cast their votes, while the number of female voters will be 47 crore 1 lakh. For the first time, arrangements have been made that voters above 85 years of age and disabled voters above 40 years will be given the facility to vote from home. For this, such voters will be contacted even before the nomination of the candidates. Along with this, the tainted candidates themselves will have to give information about the criminal cases registered against them in the newspapers thrice. The criminal information of the candidates will also be available on the cVIGIL App. There will be a control room in every district for voters, in which they can register their complaints, there will be a toll-free number 1950, in which complaints can be made about tainted candidates or other things. Also, political parties will have to explain why they gave tickets to tainted candidates?
Let us tell you that in the 2019 elections, the BJP had won 303 out of 543 seats. At the same time, the Congress, the oldest political party that ruled the country for the longest period, was reduced to just 52 seats. There is once again a face-to-face contest between the BJP and Congress in 2024. This time many opposition parties have formed an alliance called INDIA to counter the BJP, but some important parties have left it. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see how much competition the Rahul Gandhi-led alliance can give to the Modi government for the third time.
