Lok Sabha passes bill to withdraw agricultural law, suspends proceedings due to uproar

New Delhi: The bill on withdrawal of all the three controversial agricultural laws was introduced in the Lok Sabha of Parliament today. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar presented it to the House amidst opposition adjournments. The bill was passed in the Lok Sabha amid uproar from the opposition. Congress Parliamentary Party leader In the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Choudhary has demanded a discussion on the bill in the House. The House has been adjourned till 2 pm due to opposition uproar.

The Lok Sabha has approved the Repeal of Agricultural Law Bill, 2021 without discussion on repealing three controversial agricultural laws amid uproar from the Opposition. PM Narendra Modi had recently announced the withdrawal of these laws while addressing the country. He had said that we have not been able to explain its benefits to some farmers somewhere.

Earlier, party MPs led by Interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi staged a protest in the Parliament House premises on Monday against controversial agricultural laws. Congress members gathered in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the campus with a large banner that read in English: "We demand withdrawal of black agricultural laws.
