Ranchi: The Lokpal of India has issued a notice to JMM chief and Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren to appear before it on August 25 in a disproportionate assets case. On August 5, 2020, a case was registered that Shibu Soren and his family members had amassed assets disproportionate to their known and declared sources of income through illegal means.
It was also mentioned in the same complaint that Soren has acquired many commercial and residential properties in the name of himself and his family members by misusing the public exchequer in Jharkhand state by adopting corrupt and dishonest means. The notice was issued by a bench of Justice Abhilasha Kumari (judicial member) and members Mahendra Singh and Indrajit P Gautam after hearing the matter on August 4.

The four-page order states that in the considered opinion of the Lokpal, proceedings should be initiated against Shibu Soren under Section 20(3) to decide whether there is a prima facie case against the public servant.
