According to sources, the swearing-in ceremony will continue for two days, officials said on Sunday. Two days, newly elected MPs will be administered the oath of office and secrecy to the protem speaker. As per rules, the Prime Minister takes the oath first as the Leader of the House. After that, the Cabinet members take oath. "If a member does not take an oath, he cannot participate in any proceedings of the House. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was Rajya Sabha MP during the Congress-led UPA tenure. So, the Leader of the House had earlier taken the oath. But this time Modi is the Prime Minister as well as the Leader of the House.

He will also take oath

Senior BJP leaders L.K.Advani and Sonia Gandhi were sworn in after ministers in 2014. It was because of his rank and seniority. "This year, L.K.Advani has not contested the election and a decision on when the UPA Chairperson will be sworn in will be taken on Monday morning," an official said. MPs will be sworn in after the Prime Minister and Ministers in order of the letter of their state name.
