London: Verdict on Vijay Mallya's extradition case today; ED, CBI teams to attend hearing

New Delhi: The decisive hearing pertaining to case of escapee Vijay Mallya’s extradition to India is set to carry out in London’s Westminster court on Monday. The crucial hearing might pave way for Mallya’s return, but also can be challenged in higher court by him if it doesn’t come in his favor. The verdict is expected to be out by 3pm, as per India time.

Reports suggested that a team of officials led by the CBI's Joint Director, S Sai Manohar also left for London on Sunday to be present at the crucial hearing. Manohar will  take charge as  a Special Director in place of Rakesh Asthana, who had been attending the trial till now.

Besides them two officials of the Enforcement Directorate are also accompanying the CBI officer.

Worth mention here Mallya faces a case of loan default to the tune of Rs 9,000 crore in addition allegations of money laundering and diversion of loan funds for purposes other than they were meant for.

Malya is in self-imposed exile in London and left for the United Kingdom in March 2016 taking benefit of the dilution in the CBI lookout notice in opposition to him.

Indian Probe agencies are seeking to extradite him. The important case will be heard by Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Monday.
