Vice President Venkaiah Naidu gives special advice to government to remove poverty

On Wednesday, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu advocated finding long-term policies to eradicate poverty. He said, instead of adopting methods like short-term forgiveness and free gifts for poverty alleviation, long-term policy and solutions should be found.

The Vice President has appealed to the government and policymakers to ensure this work, as well as the benefit of all programs to the most eligible sections of the society. He said that a person living a public life should make efforts to eradicate poverty and create unity among the people. On the occasion of the release of a book, Naidu called for removing the loopholes of the anti-defection law to prevent the elected delegates from doing so without resigning. He appealed to all parties to discipline their members and curb such trends.

The Vice President said, people should be allowed to change parties in the event of having an opposite opinion on any ideology, but not for their personal interest. In public life, one should consider his work as a mission adopted for service, not commission. Naidu said, in a democratic system, the decision of the people is supreme and it is unfortunate that some people have developed intolerant feelings towards the mandate. He has raised concerns about disrupting the functioning and violation of traditions in Parliament and state legislatures.
