After heavy snow coated several areas of Jordan, many cities had a huge power outage. According to media sources, the Jordan Electric Power Company claimed in a statement that falling trees and branches caused power outages in 20 of the company's key locations across the nation on Thursday.

Deep snow has limited its services to important sites, it said, adding that 1,300 staff and 400 service equipment were trying to restore the power supply that had been damaged by the snow. Jordan has been hit by a polar depression that has passed its height, but its effects are anticipated to persist until Friday.

The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) reported 34 cm of snow in the Ras Munif district of Ajloun in the north, and 22 cm in the Sports City neighbourhood of the national capital of Amman on Thursday. The snowfall in the northern and central highlands would stay until afternoon hours, while it would last until Friday morning in the southern area, according to the JMD.
