The Puranas mention that a demon Bhumasura decided to sacrifice 16 thousand girls to be immortal. Shri Krishna freed these girls from jail and sent them back to their homes. But in the name of the character, their family refused to accept them. Then Shri Krishna married those girls together. In such a way that 16 thousand marriages took place simultaneously, but in addition, Shri Krishna also did some love marriages," he said.

According to the Mahabharata, Shri Krishna had married Rukmini. The story is that "One day, Lord Krishna was doing Van Vihar with Arjuna. At the same time, Sun's daughter Kalindi wished to receive Shri Krishna as her husband. Shri Krishna married her to fulfil Kaliindi's wishes."
