Mumbai: There has been a new development in Maharashtra over the Azaan controversy. The DGP of Maharashtra has directed the police to strictly follow the Supreme Court's guidelines and law regarding loudspeakers. The Supreme Court has laid down guidelines that loudspeakers should not be used from 10 pm to 6 am.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has warned that loudspeakers should be removed from all mosques in the state by May 3 or else he will play Hanuman Chalisa in front of mosques. The Shiv Sena is upset with this behaviour of the MNS. This new path of Raj Thackeray's politics is creating problems for the Shiv Sena's Hindutva politics.

According to sources in the Mumbai Police, loudspeakers have started ringing in a slow voice in most of the mosques in Mumbai city and in 70 per cent of the mosques, the use of loudspeakers has been stopped. Raj Thackeray is constantly vocal about loudspeakers in mosques. He has warned the Maharashtra government that if loudspeakers are not removed in mosques by May 3, the government will be ready to face the consequences.
