Ahmedabad: The Love Jihad Act in Gujarat has been given the green signal by Governor Acharya Devvrat. Now CM Rupani has decided to implement the Love Jihad Act in Gujarat from June 15. The law is being implemented in the state so that no one can convert anyone's religion by greed, coercion or any form of violence.
It may be recalled that recently Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat had sealed the Love Jihad Act. After which there was an effective law on love jihad in Gujarat. The law provides for a punishment of 10 imprisonment suo-versa for fraudulent marriage and forced conversion. Recently, the Love Jihad Bill was passed in the Gujarat Assembly amidst a lot of uproar. Gujarat Minister of State for Home Pradeep Singh Jadeja had informed about the bill that those who cheat on a Hindu or other religion girl will not be spared.
According to the bill, there will be a provision of 5 years imprisonment and 2 lakh fine against those who marry by hiding religion. On the other hand, there is a penalty of three lakh rupees for marrying a minor with a seven-year sentence. There is a fine of Rs 3 lakh and imprisonment of 7 years for those who violate the law.
