The Gujarat Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 2021 has been enacted on June 15, under which the accused may face up to 7 years in prison. The law was implemented to prevent love jihad. Now, three days after the enactment of this law, the first arrest has also been made in Gujarat. The first case has been registered under the act in Vadodara.
First arrest in Gujarat: It is learnt that a Muslim youth married a girl calling himself a Christian and later forced the young woman to convert to Islam. For this reason, the youth was booked and arrested under the Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 2021 of Gujarat.
Coming to the case, 25-year-old Sameer Abdulbhai Qureshi called himself Sam Martin on social media. He trapped the girl in love with his fake identity. After a little acquaintance, the girl was also taken to the hotel and raped there. The girl alleged that the boy blackmailed her, also clicked pictures of her.
Fake identity, pressure of conversion: According to the information received, the matter still did not stop there. According to the girl, she also became pregnant twice and had to have her abortion. After which in 2020, the Muslim youth pressured the girl to get married and then got married in February 2021. The young man then pressured the girl to convert. It was insisted that she convert to Islam and change her name. The girl now refused to do so and lodged a complaint directly with the Gotri police station.
