Ahmedabad: Hindu girls have filed a case of forced conversion against a Christian family living in Tapi district of Gujarat. An FIR has been registered against five members of the Vasava family living in Ambika Nagar area on Thursday (21 April 2022) at Vyara police station in the district. Complainant Mansiben Dilipbhai Gamit has alleged in her complaint that five members of the Vasava family forcibly converted her and another girl to Christianity. In her complaint, Mansiben tells that, 'When I used to study in Taluka School Vyara, then Yohan Rakeshbhai Vasava also used to study there. I had an affair with Johann. We used to talk to each other on the phone. Johann was also a friend of my brother, so he would occasionally visit our house. Johann's parents knew about our affair.

I also used to go to his house and his family follows the Christian religion. Mansiben told that, 'On April 20, 2022, at around eight in the morning, Yohan called me and said that his father has called me to his house. When I reached Johan's house, apart from his parents Rakeshbhai Vasava and Rekhaben Vasava, his two brothers Rasin Vasava and Yakub Vasava were already there.' The victim told that Johan's father cut off the sacred Kalava tied in my hands and his mother applied oil on my forehead and feet. Yohan switched off my mobile phone at the behest of his father. At the same time Mittal Dhirubhai Chaudhary reached there. She was the girlfriend of Johan's brother, Rasin Vasava. Johan's father also applied oil on Mittal's feet and forehead and said that you were impure. We had invited both of you to our house to do the purification. He told us that we should stay at his house for four days.

Mansiben has told in his complaint that, 'Johan's father told me that Jesus has deposited one lakh rupees in the bank account of him and his wife and asked them to give up the old phone, old car and buy a new car. They then lit candles and performed some Christian rituals. Then on 21 April 2022, religious conversion rituals took place, which continued till 5 pm. After that our mobile was turned on. I called my parents and told the whole thing, after which they reached Johan's house and brought me back home.' According to Mansiben, 'Yohan Rakeshbhai Vasava, Rakeshbhai Kathudiabhai Vasava, Rekhaben Rakeshbhai Vasava, Rasin Rakeshbhai Vasava and Yakub Rakeshbhai Vasava are all residents of Ambika Nagar Vyara. He trapped me under a conspiracy and invited me to his house. He tied my hair and switched off my mobile phone. I was forcibly converted to a Christian against my will, so that I could marry me.' Let us inform that the police have arrested the five accused late on Thursday (21 April 2022). A case has been registered against them under section 4 of Gujarat Religious Freedom Act and section 342, 417 and 120B of IPC.
