LPG, ATF prices cut in Delhi from today, Details inside

NEW DELHI:   Today, August 1,  the Delhi government cut the cost of the 19 kilogramme commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 36. A 19 kilogramme LPG cylinder would now cost Rs 1,976 in the national capital as against Rs 2,012.50 with this revision.

The last time LPG cylinder rates were adjusted was on July 6, when the cost of a 19 kg commercial cylinder was reduced by Rs 8.50. A 19 kg cylinder now costs Rs 2,012.50 in Chennai, Rs 2,132 in Kolkata, Rs 1,972.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 2,012.50 in Delhi following the hike.

In the meantime, the cost of aviation turbine fuel (ATF), generally known as jet fuel, has decreased by 12%. ATF currently costs domestic airlines Rs 1,21,915.57 per kilometre in Delhi, Rs 1,28,425.21 in Kolkata, Rs 1,20,875.86 in Mumbai, and Rs 1,26,516.29 in Chennai.

\For domestic airlines on international run, jet fuel costs stand at $1,161.28 per kl in Delhi, $1,201.42 per kl in Kolkata, $1,157.52 per kl in Mumbai and $1,156.67 per kl in Chennai. 

The central government reduced a windfall tax on shipments of diesel and aviation fuel by Rs 2 per litre a few weeks prior to the decrease in ATF prices. The central government also reduced tariffs on petroleum produced domestically to Rs 17,000 per tonne.

In India, jet fuel accounts for over 40% of airline operating expenses. While ATF prices are adjusted on the first and sixteenth of each month, the price of gasoline and diesel is adjusted every day based on comparable rates in the global mark.
