LUCKNOW: A teenager has reportedly been arrested in Lucknow for stalking a 14-year-old girl and then holding her hostage near a commercial complex.
Arshiyan, the accused, a 19-year-old who lives in the same locality, followed the girl. In his police complaint, the girl's father claimed that "Arshiyan kept the girl in place behind the shopping centre, did not let her leave, and kept making romantic proposals to her. The girl rejected the offer and shouted out for assistance, but no one was nearby to respond. I arrived at the scene after she managed to phone her home ".
"I saw that Arshiyan had kidnapped my daughter. He left the area when he noticed me there " he said.Later, the accused called the girl's father and warned him that if he reported the incident to police, there would be serious repercussions.
The girl's father further alleged that Arshiyan was a rowdy and had been stalking the girl for a long time. He told reporters, "We initially overlooked his activities since we did not want to provoke issue.
East Zone DCP Prachi Singh said they registered a case and launched a hunt for the accused who was later arrested from near the Gwari crossing on Sunday evening.
