LUCKNOW: A fire broke out in a slum in Gudamba's Zahirpur area of Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow on Saturday. For a short time, the fire took a ferocious form. One fire after another went on to ash the slum. In the meantime, the explosions were caused by the bursting of the gas cylinder due to the fire. About half a dozen fire tenders, which arrived after receiving the information, brought the fire under control after an hour and a half of hard work.  

A large number of people live in a vacant plot in the Zahirapur area in a vacant plot of land. According to Gudamba police, a fire was reported from a stove spark in a hut around 11 am. On seeing this, the fire also engulfed the huts of the neighbourhood. Seeing the flames, the people of the neighbourhood started shouting. At first, the people living there tried to control the fire by throwing water from the bucket themselves. But the fire was becoming increasingly uncontrollable and it led to a stampede in the settlement. Acting on a tip-off, police and about half a dozen vehicles from Indiranagar, Chowk and BKT fire stations reached there. The firemen brought the fire under control after about one and a half hours of hard work. 

Let me tell you that there are people who work as junk in the town. The fire broke out due to an excess quantity of junk items in the colony. As soon as he saw it, the fire took a terrible form. Police and firemen rushed to the spot soon after getting information about the fire in the slum. Amidst the flames, the women and children living in the settlement were evacuated safely. According to firemen, the fire was doused in time, otherwise, the fire would have taken over nearby houses.
