Lucknow: King George Medical University (KGMU), the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, has created history by separating two connected twins through operation for the first time. Priyanka, a resident of Kushinagar gave birth to two attached twins at BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur. After a referral by Baba Raghav Das Medical College of Gorakhpur, they have been separated after successful operation at KGMU Hospital in Lucknow.

While giving the information, retired Lieutenant General of KGMU, Dr. Vipin Puri has told that due to Corona, the operation of these twins had not been done earlier. The Chancellor has claimed that this is the first time in the history of KGMU, when two twins were operated on, whose chest and stomach were interlinked. This operation lasted for about 7 to 8 hours. Whose expenditure was incurred by the family members using the government's Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

Dr. Vipin Puri said that to make this operation successful, surgeons of many other departments also had to take help. In which cardiac surgeon, liver surgeon, plastic surgeon came and collaborated, so that the operation could be made successful. He said that all of us and parents of twins are very happy with this operation.
